Cho Gi-Seok captures a surreal vision of love for Numéro
Born and based in Seoul, Cho Gi-Seok develops a poetic approach to photography, revealing a fabulous realm of imagination in his images. Imbued with references to the history of art and to the traditional culture of his native country, his shots unfold a narrative in which the sweetness of flowers plays an essential role, both from a narrative and aesthetic perspective. As a set designer, sculptor, graphic designer, and creative director of his own conceptual fashion label, Kusikohc, Cho Gi-Seok was one of 22 designers selected for the semi-final of the 2023 LVMH prize. For his very first collaboration with Numéro, he produced this fascinating series entitled “Fatal Attraction”, in which he had been searching for “correspondences between the positive and harmful components of passionate love, flowers, and seasons” in his own words. Along with models Shin Hyunji and Mathieu Simoneau, Cho Gi-Seok pictures the surreal fantasy of love.
