13 trends spotted at the Fall/Winter 2024-2025 Fashion Week

FASHION

What are the trends spotted at the Fall/Winter 2024-2025 Fashion Week ? From corsets and sheer skirts to total red looks and faux fur coats, throwback to 13 trends that will compose our next winter wardrobe.

Red, the trendy color of the Fall/Winter 2024-2025

If we had to pick one hue that stood out during the Fall/Winter 2024-2025 Fashion Week, it would be the color red. Primarily introduced on the Fall/Winter 2023-2024 catwalks, the red dress is making a comeback this season. As glamorous as ever at Vetements, Ludovic de Saint Sernin, Ferragamo, Dilara Findikoglu, Victoria Beckham, Sportmax, and Versace, it appears in a minimalist version at Balmain, Proenza Schouler, Courrèges, and Dries Van Noten. In addition to dresses, the color redden coats by Hermès, Bottega Veneta and Mugler, as well as total looks by Gabriela Hearst, GCDS and MSGM, and a suit by Jil Sander.

The Fall/Winter 2024-2025 lingerie trend

At the crossroads between couture and upcycling, the bras and T-shirts that compose the Balenciaga dress push the envelope of the lingerie trend. Aside from Demna’s radical creation, next winter underwear will be bold, just like at the Saint Laurent show, where the shirt extends into a garter belt. Meanwhile at Dolce & Gabbana, Ann Demeulemeester, Gucci, Nina Ricci, Mugler, Moschino and Chloé, alluring silk and lace silhouettes largely feature camisoles, bloomers and babydolls.

The Fall/Winter 2024-2025 corset trend

Following on from the creations seen on the Spring/Summer 2024 catwalks, the corset is sculptural at Balmain and Di Petsa. In their Fall/Winter 2024-2025 collections, Gucci, Versace, Schiaparelli, Tom Ford, Acne Studios, and Vetements present sober and minimalist corsets, while Dilara Findikoglu and Dolce & Gabbana go back to the roots of this piece of lingerie. Finally, Simone Rocha and Sportmax suggest a belt-like corset over coats, for a stunning, strict and sexy style.

The Fall/Winter 2024-2025 sheer skirt trend

After making its debut in 2023, the sheer skirt is imposing itself on the catwalks of the Fall/Winter 2024-2025 Fashion Week. First in New York, as a pencil skirt at Tory Burch and Ludovic de Saint Sernin, as a lace design at Michael Kors and as a gothic-glam creation at Thom Browne. Then in London, where it pursues its journey at Simone Rocha in rhinestone-embroidered tulle and at Dilara Findikoglu in a sexy, officewear look. And in Paris at last, where the sheer skirt is paired with equally revealing tops at Saint Laurent, but also appears in a cane leather version at Dior, in chic silhouettes at Valentino, in rock’n’roll pieces at Ann Demeulemeester, in minimalist looks at Dries Van Noten, in bohemian ensembles at Chloé or in edgy designs at Ester Manas, who pairs it with a short down jacket.

The Fall/Winter 2024-2025 fur coat trend

With fur and faux-fur coats gracing the women’s wardrobe this winter - spotted at Louis Vuitton, Alaïa, Alexander McQueen, Tom Ford, Dolce & Gabbana, Courrèges, Pressiat, Balenciaga, Coperni, Valentino, Givenchy, Stella McCartney, Armani and Burberry - the mob wife trend is set to last throughout the year. And if the gangsta-wife aesthetic doesn’t appeal to you, Dries Van Noten, Ester Manas and Tod’s offer a rather minimalist version of it. Note that the maxi fur coat is also featured in the men’s collections.

The Fall/Winter 2024-2025 trench trend

In 2024, the trench will be the must-have spring coat of your wardrobe. After making a noticeable comeback for the Spring/Summer 2024 season, it will still be a stable piece for next winter, especially at Burberry and Courrèges, where Daniel Lee and Nicolas di Felice offer a strict version, but also at Balmain, Tod’s, Thom Browne, Tom Ford, and Moschino with more classic, yet always chic, black or beige cuts. The trench coat adorns rebellious tags at Dior, its structure is choppy at Balenciaga, it is made of brown leather at Stella McCartney and Ludovic de Saint Sernin, while Rokh opts for red leather, and Avellano and Courrèges for latex. Chic and mysterious, the trench coat remains a sure bet, whatever your style.

The Fall/Winter 2024-2025 sequin trend

Like lingerie, see-through pieces and trench coats, sequins will be a major trend in 2024 starting this spring until next winter. At the Balenciaga, Dior, Gucci, Tom Ford, Dolce & Gabbana, Akris and Mickael Kors runway shows, we dare the ultra-glamorous long dress for a quintessential red-carpet look. Valentino offers a mini dress with a low neckline and a coat with sequined fringes, while Coperni unveils a galactic tiny dress with ultra-long sleeves. For a more casual look, Gucci opts for an embroidered short coat and no pants, Versace features a micro short and cardigan ensemble, and Dries Van Noten chooses a pencil skirt paired with a gray sweatshirt.

The Fall/Winter 2024-2025 micro short trend

Initiated by Kendall Jenner wearing Bottega Veneta in 2022, and recently spotted on Kristen Stewart during the promotion of her new film, the no pants trend is having the best time in the stars’ wardrobe. As it is not easy to incorporate the trend in real life, we would rather adopt micro shorts, which are just as sexy and have the advantage of lengthening the leg when paired with heels. At Coperni, micro shorts merged with tailored jackets to create the bodysuit of the future, and at Acne Studios, we dared to wear a wetsuit-inspired uniform. At the Dior, Gucci, Stella McCartney, Chloé, Dolce & Gabbana and Nina Ricci shows, micro shorts are softened with matching jackets. Finally, GCDS and Hodakova offer rock versions that we approve unanimously.

The Fall/Winter 2024-2025 thigh-high boots trend

As the antithesis of the discreet, wise ballerina pumps, which are making a comeback this spring, the thigh-high boots are set to be the star shoe of winter 2024. From Fendi to Gucci, Chanel, Burberry, Chloé, Off-White, Stella McCartney and Coperni, skin-tight boots made of leather, faux leather or suede reach high up the thigh and give a slightly femme fatale side, even to the most demure looks.

The Fall/Winter 2024-2025 leopard trend

To play along the bling aesthetics of the mob wife trend, we would recommend adding a few touches of leopard print to the coat mentioned above - a trench coat at Dior, fur coats at Alaïa, Balenciaga, Diesel, Marni and Rabanne, or roaring dresses and jumpsuits at Versace, Ester Manas and Alexander McQueen. The more unsure of us will settle for a Zimmermann blouse.

The Fall/Winter 2024-2025 cardigan trend

Since fashion loves nothing better than to contradict itself, we are also witnessing the comeback of the chic, understated cardigan. Chanel, Prada and Gucci are offering a lady-like style, while Chloé and Etro are going for a boho look and Seán McGirr for Alexander McQueen opts for a fluo-techno ensemble. To be continued, keeping in mind the grandmacore trend.

The Fall/Winter 2024-2025 jumpsuit trend

At this Fashion Week, jumpsuits made a cautious comeback on the Fall/Winter 2024-2025 catwalks. First at Puma in New York, with a techno-biker style, and then at Marine Serre, which once again relied on its moon print. At Acne Studios, it borrows the wetsuit style, and at Germanier, it is embroidered with pearls. Otherwise, at Chloé, Nina Ricci, Tom Ford and Weinsanto, lace is an extension of the lingerie trend. It remains a sexy garment that deserves more attention.

The Fall/Winter 2024-2025 fur details trend

Aside from coats, fur and faux fur can also be found on other garments and in imposing touches. From Miu Miu’s suits, Gabriela Hearst’s, Marni’s and Ester Manas’ dresses to Louis Vuitton’s gloves, Acne Studios’, Dsquared2’s and Alexander McQueen’s scarves and stoles or Coperni’s collar on evening dresses... fur will be everywhere.
