From more than 600 archived images, the “Studio Blumenfeld New York, 1941-1960” exhibition looks back at the major works of German photographer Erwin Blumenfeld. Official photographer for the major fashion reviews of the time, Erwin Blumenfeld never stopped experimenting with colour through games of light, kaleidoscopic visions and the use of brand new colours in his New York based studio. His experiments led to work with the publicity world for brands such as Elizabeth Arden. Of the 200 plus shots on show here, 30 of them are being exhibited for the first time to the general public: incredibly graphic photography with exalted colours that have inspired other fashion photographers like Mario Testino and Guy Bourdin.
The “STUDIO BLUMENFELD NEW YORK 1941-1960” exhibition, from March 3rd to June 4th 2017 at the Cité de la Mode et du Design.
