The 24 year old Canadian, muse and protégé of Ryan McGinley, is showing her work for the first time in her home town of Toronto. With “Pacifier” the girl who started shooting photos at high school, has caught the light and the poetry of her own family (particularly her sister Anna) in a series of images taken between Canada and Budapest – where she lived as a child. She translates this intimacy using pastel coloured filters that imbue her work with a lyrical timelessness. One of the three new muses for Alessandro Michele’s first perfume “Bloom” by Gucci (she also walked for the Italian house at the fall-winter 2016 show), alongside Dakota Johnson and Hari Nef, Petra Collins is certainly an up and coming figure in the visual art world and has already collaborated with Vogue, Elle, Dazed&Confused and worked on ad campaigns for Calvin Klein, Levi's, adidas and Stella McCartney.
“Pacifier”, Contact Gallery, Toronto, Canada. Until 24th june.
