Beatniks, sénateurs romains, avocats, elfes, prêtresses, empereurs, prostituées… L’univers d’Alessandro Michele, directeur artistique de la maison Gucci depuis janvier 2015, est peuplé d’une faune bigarrée, où tout s’accorde, se succède prodigieusement de manière cohérente et la collection croisière de cette année baptisée “Viva la libertà” ne fait pas exception.
À travers une centaine de modèles s’élançant sur les pavés de l’immortel Museo Capitolini à Rome, la maison présente aux côtés de toges romaines, bijoux antiquisants et ornements cabalistiques - faisant écho à une ère païenne idéale, mais révolue - des indices rappelant de manière troublante l’actualité internationale.
Utérus brodé de paillettes et de fleurs, message féministe apposé en lettres capitales sur le dos d’un blazer violet, ou encore mention de la loi 180 italienne autorisant l’interruption volontaire de grossesse en 1978, sont autant d’éléments mis en avant en éloge à la liberté pour dénoncer le recul criant des droits accordés aux femmes et notamment du droit à l'avortement sensiblement restreint aux États-Unis depuis son interdiction dans l'État de l'Alabama le 19 mai dernier.
