"Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking." ("Des fleurs ? Pour le printemps ? Innovant.")
Tous les fans du film Le diable s'habille en Prada se rappelleront cette célèbre réplique de Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), rédactrice en chef d'un magazine de mode, à la suggestion d'une série mode sur le thème des fleurs pour le printemps. Loin d'avoir peur de coller au cliché, David Koma ose célébrer la rose dans son défilé printemps-été 2024 présenté à la Fashion Week de Londres.
"Alors que les ornements signature de David Koma ont souvent pris une forme florale, la douceur associée au motif floral classique constitue en quelque sorte un contraste avec ce qu'elle représente réellement. La collection Printemps-Été 2024 embrasse cette divergence dans une exploration du romantisme floral au sein du modernisme glamour de David Koma. À travers le regard londonien adopté par le designer géorgien, cette notion suscite l’idée de la rose anglaise incarnée par la jeune Elizabeth II.” Pour le côté biker, le créateur s'inspire d'une photo de celle qui était alors princesse, au volant d'une moto Royal Enfield 250 durant son service militaire au début des années 40, ainsi qu'à Marianne Faithfull dans le film The Girl on a Motorcycle (1968).
Le motif incontournable de la collection
Ainsi la rose est le motif incontournable de cette collection David Koma printemps-été 2024, utilisée en ornements tridmentionnels ou imprimés, de façon abstraites avec des volants aux allures de pétales de paillettes fabriqués à la main et incrustés. Des motifs organiques de roses grimpantes entrelacées s'obervent sur une maille de soie imprimée enveloppant le corps, ou sur des bottes en cuir hauteur genoux enfin certains motifs imitent les tatouges avec des roses brodées sur du tulle.
